We have all sorts of special days. Mother’s Day, Birthday, Anniversary. And so it is only right that we celebrate Nurses and May 12th is designated as International Nurses Day.
Now it might pass you by- working your shift, doing stuff and living a “normal life”.

But just in case, here are two patients’ comments to muse over (both from Avon 3 at Worcestershire Royal).

We would like to thank the nurses and staff for their amazing service during the past 8 weeks whilst caring for our mum. She has been treated with care and kindness by all under extremely busy conditions. You are very special people and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

“With regard to my mother-in-law’s stay on Avon 3. All of the staff have been exemplary in their care. We tend to hear only the negatives nowadays but I am proud to say that I was part of this institution for many years, offering excellent care.
Some of the staff I would like to mention include Newly qualified Nurse Jenny, Lisa, Staff Nurse Sheeba, HCA Danielle and HCA Catalena. Staf Nurse Louise, HCA Patrina, HCA Zoe, Staff Nurse Sini and HCA Gemma. There were many other members of staff, whose names I was unable to obtain, but I wish to thank them most sincerely. There was also a Staff Nurse in charge of Avon 3 on one of the evenings when my mother in law was suffereing extreme abdominal pain and she was excellent.
I should be most grateful if you would ensure that all the staff involved in my mother in law’s care are praised personally for their excellent care.”

In face of the pervading and undeserved negatives, these comments speak volumes.

SPECIAL PEOPLE; EXEMPLARY; EXCELLENT; CARING; KINDNESS.

And So I say: “Fantastic staff. Fantastic care.”

Happy Nurses Day!
